About this print
Jesus With Kids
Four children sit close in the grass, and Jesus has all the time in the world for them.
What is painted
Under the wide, twisting branches of an ancient olive tree, Jesus sits cross-legged on the grass in a cream robe with a red shawl over one shoulder. He leans forward, one hand open in the middle of a story, smiling at the children. Two sit on each side of him: curly-haired boys in olive green and girls in rose and cream, all looking up at his face with attention.
Daisies and wild grasses fill the foreground between pale stones. Past the tree, a stone village with cypresses rests on a slope, and the sun drops behind blue hills into a glowing sky. The oil painting style is warm and impressionist, the image covers the full page, and there is no text on it.
Let the children come
Mark 10:13-16 recounts how people brought young children to Jesus so that he would touch them, and the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus was much displeased and said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”
He added that whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will not enter it. Then he took the children up in his arms, put his hands upon them and blessed them. Matthew 19:13-15 and Luke 18:15-17 tell the same scene, and Luke notes that some of them were infants.
For a child's room or a Sunday school
This is a gentle choice for a nursery, a playroom or a kids' bedroom, and for gifts at a baptism, a dedication or a first communion. Children's ministry leaders, Sunday school teachers and Christian preschools also use it for classrooms and hallways, and grandparents often like it for the guest room where the grandkids sleep.
The olive greens and dusty rose of the children's clothes sit comfortably with neutral nursery palettes, so the print does not overpower a small room. It also works as a teacher appreciation present at the end of a Vacation Bible School week or a Sunday school year.
Each copy is a giclée on thick archival matte paper, printed on demand in the US, with free delivery to US addresses. It does not include a frame. Pick a size from 5x7 to 24x36 inches, a metric or A size, or download a digital file instead.
