About this print
Jesus in the Snow
A quiet winter trail, deep snow under tall pines, and Jesus walking ahead of us toward a sun that turns the whole forest gold.
What is painted
We see Jesus from behind, halfway down a snowy path. He wears a cream robe with a wide tan mantle thrown over one shoulder, his long brown hair falling to his collar. His footprints mark the fresh snow at the bottom of the picture, so the eye follows his steps into the scene.
Heavy pine branches bend under the snow on both sides, and boulders lie buried in drifts to the right. Beyond the trees the land opens onto a valley, a still lake and a white mountain peak, with the sun breaking through the clouds just above it. The palette stays warm, ivory, honey and soft amber, so the cold never feels harsh.
The picture is an impressionist oil-style painting that fills the whole sheet, edge to edge. There is no lettering anywhere on it.
Following the light through winter
No Gospel describes Jesus in snow, and the painting does not claim to. It is a meditation on discipleship. In Matthew 4:19 Jesus calls two fishermen with a simple invitation: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” A figure walking ahead on a trail puts that call into a picture you can live with every day.
The light he walks toward echoes John 8:12: “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” And the snow itself carries a promise from Isaiah 1:18, where the Lord says that sins red as scarlet “shall be as white as snow.”
A winter print for the home
Hang it in an entryway, above a fireplace or in a cabin from Advent through the end of February. Because the scene is winter rather than Nativity, it can stay up long after the Christmas tree comes down. It makes a thoughtful present for a grandfather who loves the outdoors, a pastor, or a friend walking through a hard season.
Each print is made to order in the United States as a giclée on heavyweight archival matte paper, and US shipping is free. It arrives unframed. Choose any size from 5x7 up to 24x36 inches, or a metric or A size if your frame calls for one. A digital file is also available if you prefer to print it yourself.
